I do agree. Some of us have egos the size of a galaxy.

But most of us have a regular size egos that keep us stuck in our own bubbles.

An overdeveloped ego is a problem. It limits the soul’s input. It tries to run things and be in charge. It thinks it knows it all. 

In an effort to control everyone and everything, the ego only separates itself even further from the Divine and feels lonely, cut off and increasingly powerless.

And even still, we don’t want to kill our egos.

We want them to be soft, trusting, willing to flow with the goals of our souls, and to accept life on life’s terms. But not kill them.

We have have heard it said that the self, must shed its ego so that it reaches enlightenment. 

“Is it possible to even kill an ego?” you ask.

Yes and no.

Why “yes” — Using massive doses of LSD (I have only heard it happen with LSD, chemicals resulting from technological advancement and not ingredients that come from the earth) and suggestion, we can kill our egos and a new one can be born.

Why “no” — The ego cannot be annihilated. If one is killed, a new one emerges from the inner self which is its source.

The new ego will have its new set of problems. And it will never feel safe and a wanted part of the soul’s structure. It will fear the death from which it sprang. The new ego will never feel as safe in its existence in the physical world and the ability to manipulate in it.

As you can see, killing our egos is not the way to create a state of grace, illumination and connection with the Divine.
